Lemon Bread

Delicious lemon-infused bread topped with zesty lemon sauce.

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
Grated rind of 1 lemon
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar (for sauce)
Juice of 1 lemon (for sauce)

Instructions

Cream shortening and sugar. Add lemon rind, eggs, and milk. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt and add to creamed mixture. Place in well greased pan.

Bake in 350° oven for 50 min. to 1 hr. 

Stir sugar until it is well mixed with lemon juice. Spoon over hot bread.
