Prepare the meat filling first. Chop onion and brown in a large skillet with a small amount of cooking oil. Add the finely chopped garlic, add ground meat and brown.
Into large covered cooking pot put tomato sauce, tomato paste, (plus water) and meat mixture. Cover and simmer 25 min.
Mix ricotta and egg in a separate dish. Cook lasagne noodles until tender but not mushy. Drain and rinse in cold water so noodles will handle easily.
Grease the bottom of a 13x9 cake pan. Start with a layer of noodles and proceed in layering in the following order. 1. noodles 2. meat sauce 3. mozzarella cheese 4. ricotta cheese
Repeat this three (3) times and finish off with meat sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Allow to cool 1/2 hour before cutting.
